Mr Toomey has appeared in many leading torts cases which have established the law in Australia, including Vocisano v Vocisano (duties of counsel to the client). He was also the lead counsel for the successful appellant in Corporate Affairs Commission v Yuill (rights of person being examined under Corporations Law).
Mr Toomey has been the counsel assisting a number of Royal Commissions, Special Commissions and the Independent Commission Against Corruption. He has been a Member of the Administrative Decisions Tribunal, a Member of the Bar Council and Chairman of a number of Ethics Committees.
