Ms Margaret Holz was admitted as a solicitor in March 1976 and has practised in common law for the past 40 years. She was called to the Bar in August 2003. Her work has centred on personal injury cases for both plaintiffs and defendants.

She was a Bar Councillor from 2004 to 2007, a member of the Bar Association’s Professional Conduct Committee and of its New Barristers Committee, serving as Chair in 2006. As a solicitor, she was an Accredited Specialist in Personal injury Law and served on the Law Society’s Costs Committee and Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee.

Ms Holz was a District and Supreme Court arbitrator from 1994 to 2004 and a Supreme Court costs assessor from 2002 to 2005. Ms Holz is a Bar Association accredited mediator, a member of LEADR and is on the Supreme Court’s mediator panel.

Ms Holz is also a CARS assessor with the Motor Accidents Authority and was one of the first three assessors to determine cases under the Motor Accidents Compensation Act following its inception in 1999. Ms Holz has participated in various representative and consultative groups relating to personal injury.

Ms Holz is a member of the Australian Lawyers Alliance and the American Association for Justice. She is a former Vice-Chair of the Women Barristers Forum, a former President and current Treasurer of the Women Lawyers Association of NSW and a Board Member of the Australian Women Lawyers.
