Mr David O’Dowd practices in both the Common Law and Commercial Law jurisdictions. Mr O’Dowd also advises in and conducts appellate proceedings.
In the Common Law field, Mr O’Dowd advises and appears in insurance disputes and litigation, including occupier’s liability claims, CTP claims, medical negligence claims, workplace negligence claims, Trade Practices claims, product liability claims, breach of contract and TPD claims.
Mr O’Dowd also appears in Coronial and other Inquests.
Mr O’Dowd advises and appears in employment matters, accepting instructions from both employees (including executives) and employers.
In the Commercial Law field, Mr O’Dowd advises and appears in matters involving contract disputes, product liability, building and construction, administrative law and liquor licensing, and disciplinary tribunals.
Mr O’Dowd appears in the Equity Jurisdiction generally, including applications for injunctions and declaratory relief, contractual disputes and Succession Act (Family Provision and will disputes) matters.
Mr O’Dowd also advises and appears in defamation proceedings.
In all areas of his practice, Mr O’Dowd is experienced in alternative dispute resolution, including mediations, arbitrations and expert determinations (referees).
